The journey

From a first contest to a first system.

  1. 'Codeforces · debut

    The first contest

Rated 1386 first time out, then 19 more before the year ended.

February 24, 2018. I had no idea what I was doing and it still went better than expected — 1386 on debut. Nineteen more contests followed before December. Eight years later I have not stopped.

  2. 'Notre Dame College

    Finished at Notre Dame

HSC done, Math Club behind me, KUET ahead.

Two years at Notre Dame College and an active membership in the Math Club. It was the first place that made the jump from "problems as homework" to "problems as the point" feel natural.

  3. 'KUET · CSE

    KUET, and the grind

From 14 contests a year to 60. First IUPC: 23rd at SEC Junior.

Started Computer Science at KUET in March and the contest count more than quadrupled — 60 rated rounds that year, and the same again in 2023. My first inter-university contest ended 23rd with KUET_upperMoon.

  4. 'Bruteforce_Knights

    Peak year

3rd at KRIUPC. Peaked at Expert. Built CGum and CodeChamp.

Third place at the Khulna Regional IUPC and twelfth at BUET CSE Fest, both with Bruteforce_Knights. Peaked at Expert (1735) in October after 64 rated rounds. It was also the year I stopped only solving problems and started shipping things — CGum on Android, CodeChamp on Laravel with its own online judge.

  5. 'kuet_evangelion · ICPC

    Dhaka Regionals

66th at ICPC Asia Dhaka Regional. Took over as Club President.

Onsite at the ICPC Asia Dhaka Regional with kuet_evangelion, finishing 66th. In September I became Club President at SGIPC — running the training sessions and practice contests I had spent years competing in.

  6. 'KUET · B.Sc. CSE

    Graduated, kept building

Left KUET in June. Shipped HexaCraft, started StudyLoop.

Graduated in June with 1,648 problems and 292 rated contests behind me. Built HexaCraft, a voxel engine in C++ and OpenGL, then started StudyLoop — the most ambitious thing I have attempted, and the one still in progress.
